Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

from the North Carolina Zemmins

Hello and Happy New Year!  We have had a busy and wonderful year.   Our biggest news is that we now have a second daughter in college.  Jordan started at NC State University in August.  Having both of the girls gone has been quite an adjustment, but we are keeping busy with Cassidy (especially now that our drivers are gone).  Cassidy is really enjoying being an only child.

Cassidy is 13, and is in 8h grade.   She continues to excel at school and is playing soccer and swimming.  She has really developed a love for swimming and even helped work with the younger kids last summer.   This winter she is again practicing with the high school swim team and will play her last middle school soccer season this spring.  Her biggest milestone this year is that she is now our tallest child.  J

Jordan is 18, graduated high school and is off to college.  Jordan graduated in the top ten in her high school class and won several academic awards.  She also had a great year in sports.  She competed in 4 events at the State Swimming Finals and was named All Region in Swimming.  She also had a great year in Soccer and was named All Conference and All Region.  We are very proud of both her academic and athlete achievements.  She visited several colleges and decided on NC State.  She has settled in well at school and had a great first semester.

Chelsea turned 20, and is now a sophomore in college at Appalachian State University.  She really enjoys college and continues to excel.  She enjoys going to school in the mountains and enjoys hiking and snowboarding.  She is still interested in the medical field and is actively investigating several possible career paths.  She has a job working at the college and is a leader in the Young Life program.

Roxanne has had a busy year between trying to attend all the girls sporting events and managing the two animal hospitals. She has really missed the girls, but has adjusted well to having girls in college.  She continues to go hiking/running and working out several times a week.

Mark Ė I had a good year.  I continue to enjoy my work, my company has been acquired again and I am now part of OpenText.  It is a large Canadian company.  I have developed a real passion for photography and enjoy taking photos of all beautiful places I visit.  I continue to stay very active with my hiking, and went on several trips out West.

For Jordanís graduation my siblings and their families came to be at the party.  We had several days with everyone at our home and had a great time.  Making the drive two years in a row was a big commitment. It was great of every one to take time to travel to our home to celebrate Jordanís graduation with us.

We took a family vacation to Silver Lake on West Coast of Michigan.  We went with John, Komal and Josh.  We had a great time with them.  John took people all over the sand dunes in his Jeep and we enjoyed playing in Lake Michigan.  Bryan and Michelle brought Bryanna and Calvin over and they spent part of the week with us.  It was really enjoyable to be with so much family.

My brother John and I took a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park in the Spring and spent a week snowshoeing.  We have met a bunch of people over the years at the park and it was great to see so many friends.

Roxanne and I took a trip to Nevada and Utah this fall.  It was the first time that we had vacationed without the girls in four years and really enjoyed the time together.  We saw some beautiful country and had a great time together.  We saw Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park and saw some beautiful country. We canít wait to go back to that area.

We hope this letter finds you all in good health and doing well.  We would enjoy hearing from you.  You can reach us at 706-746-3605 or email us at or .
